Why did you reduce your hours in 2020?

The short answer is that I decided to turn the stay at home mandate issued in March of 2020 into a positive learning experience.

Most of 2019 I spent trying to keep up with the multiple changes and updates to the Google search algorithms for SEO (search engine optimization) purposes.

However, over the past year multiple updates happened with various coding languages (PHP, Java, PERL, HTML, etc.) and I decided this would be a good time to set aside time to use to brush up on these skills. Most of these are subtle changes just like when your computer has and operating system update (Windows 8 changing to Windows 10). While most things remain the same somethings get moved around, dropped, or completely changed. This is the same with coding.

Before I may update the system I have to update the code for the site in a test web space that is not accessible to the public. Also I am hoping to make certain improvements for those that are accessing the site on mobile devices. So each day I am spending a few hours in online courses or scanning through code making updates.

I am also learning some new scripting languages such as Python that I am hoping will be helpful in the long run.
